First 3D survey

When we arrived at the beach the full moon was still up. Beautiful sunrise in the Ria Formosa.

The survey started at 06:30 and ended at 11:30. We did 24 cross-shore profiles, and 1800 m of a maximum runup alongshore profile.

The beach had a fair-weather profile, occasionally with more than 2 berms.

Nevertheless, further east some small overwash intrusions were detected.

We are now ready for overwash.

Let the games begin......

Fieldwork plan

RUSH project intensive fieldwork is about to start.
Our first attempt to measure overwash will be on the 16th and 17th September (Sunday and Monday).
During fieldwork we will deploy equipment (ADP, 2 EMC, ADV, 8 PTs, and video) in 8 stations from the low tide beach level until the backbarrier.

This is one of the field sites, close to Ancão Inlet.

This is the urban study site, at Praia de Faro.

Fieldwork preparation

It has been 3 long weeks preparing equipment and mooring structures. So far so good, almost done!!
Video is behind schedule but we do our best to have everything ready on time.
Take a look at the high-tech device we done 2 days ago.

Welcome

Welcome to RUSH project!
This is a scientific project devoted to the study of overwash processes.
Hopefully during the next 3 years you will read about our fieldwork, results, and findings.
